Environmental Focus

Guided by DEACERO®’s Virtuous Circle, we collaborate with authorities and communities to protect and preserve the environment.

We focus on optimizing the use of natural and energy resources to the maximum, with the objective of achieving sustainable development in our processes, while guaranteeing our operational continuity.

Circular Economy

As part of the DEACERO® Virtuous Circle, we promote circular economy by prioritizing recycled materials and encouraging responsible consumption. Leftover materials from our processes become raw materials for other industries, closing the sustainability cycle.

Decarbonization

Our production model is an example of sustainability in the world, producing steel using electric arc furnaces. Our production generates around 4 times less CO₂ emissions than the world average published by the World Steel Association (WSA) and the North American blast furnace average.

From 2019 to 2023, as a Group, we have avoided the release of 900 thousand tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to taking more than 200,000 vehicles off the road for one year.

Energy

We use clean and efficient energy sources, which has allowed us to reduce our CO₂ emissions from electricity consumption. By 2027, at least 50% of our energy consumption will come from clean energy.

Our steel production process consumes only one third of the average consumption of the worldwide industry. This makes our production process one of the most efficient in water usage.
